  • Are you on the stable branch? Curious how it is for gaming. I was having issues on Mint (which is similarly stable), but they all went away when I swapped to PikaOS, kinda skipped over Debian

  • I've been eyeing these games, but refused to buy until I was 100% confident they would actually conclude the story and not leave people hanging.

I'm still holding out for reviews of #3 to come in so I know whether or not they fumbled the ball, but I'm at least at the point where once it drops I'll consider picking up the full trilogy on sale.

This never really needed to be split into three games though...

  • I've been rocking PikaOS for a little while now and I'm pleasantly surprised. Debian Cid based with prepackaged gaming tools. It's been good

  • I don't know enough about the subject to dispute anything on the website (also, tl;dr), but I have my doubts about an AI marketing firm's estimates on the ROI of marketing technologies.

  • How do I get this but solar punk?

  • Dogs are only considered naked if they are not wearing a collar. Source: every dog owner at bath time.

  • Agreed! But also a friendly reminder: With a large primary pool, only one candidate can advance; odds are it's not your preferred vote.

When your preferred candidate doesn't make it past the primary, that's normal. Don't throw away your most meaningful vote out of spite.

  • Stop eating fish and continue sharing information is a good start while you push for industrial change.

  • Con: The nearest Alamo Drafthouse is almost 2 hours away.

  • I'm not sure that's the flex you think it is

  • Fun fact, unless you are a social media manager for a company trying to astroturf content, you are under zero obligation to go on Reddit again ever.

  • You should take his word for it, my dog's app is in fact the goodest app.

  • How were they expecting to get the hat trick without a fight?

  • What, am I somehow to believe that animals, confined within inches of each other, surrounded/covered by their own feces, deprived of anything resembling exercise, and fed a nutrient deficient diet are somehow capable of rapidly spreading diseases?

Next you're gonna try and tell me that despite pumping them full of antibiotics, bacteria could somehow uhh... find a way to survive those conditions?

  • Assuming they flood it with MTX, spyware, and unnecessary online connectivity, I value it at approx. -$100 (USD, feel free to convert that to your currency of choice.)

Someone would have pay me $100 to install it, and even then I can't promise I'd play it much. So yes, I do think it's overpriced, by ~$200

  • Marine carbon dioxide removal (CDR) initially drew enthusiasm from the private sector, but momentum is slowing down.

In this context, "private sector" means Microsoft. They're the one throwing tons of money at CDR projects. Seems they may be starting to learn that dead zones and ocean acidification aren't worth the overhyped gains

  • Fuel cells, like batteries, perform direct electrochemical conversion of chemical energy to electrical energy. No pesky steam.

The problem is chemical bonds are super low energy density.

The only way we know to achieve something resembling that level of energy density is fusion or fission, both of which typically make steam, but that's not the only way to use them.

Satellites use radioisotope thermoelectric generators for power, which have no moving parts and are about 30-40% efficient

In order to make something high powered you can strap onto your chest, you would need some pretty miraculous innovation in:

    • radiation shielding, because duh
    • efficiency AND heat shielding. I'd wager, without doing the math, even at 99% efficiency, the equipment in Iron Man's suit would start to boil him alive if he didn't have a magic heat management system. Less efficient would of course = more heat to dissipate

If you can't manage those, then you need a whole new form of energy conversion. Some sort of matter to energy fuel cell ala Project Hail Mary Solarphage, or a means of efficiently bending space time to cheat modern physics.
