  • True and if we're being thorough even Fox News is a form of or feeding terrorism. But I think it would be important to compare and contrast with events such as the move bombing in 1985. Whether or not you were 100% on board with MOVE's praxis. What the police did was a terrorist attack that destroyed the community in many ways. Not just MOVE. But they can't be terrorist, they're police. Tulsa race massacre, ditto. If you really want to get base level, the state itself is terrorist. If you question it's authority how will it answer.

    It's a term so misused as we are seeing now. It's just treated as "enemy" anymore. People need to get used to it, and understand those in power are their enemy. That they should be afraid. That terrorism itself isn't bad inherently. It's all about who's targeted and why. A culpable organization like the Pentagon and the MIC. Or unconnected random, perhaps even ally families and individuals.

  • Elvira was fun but absolutely a caricature. Cassandra on the other hand is still the real deal. I was a little disappointed with her participation in the Rob Zombie Munsters train wreck. Her showing up as Elvira wouldn't have saved it. But would have made it more entertaining. As opposed to just painful. I really wanted to like it just from the casting of Sylvester as Grandpa's assistant. But then maybe I'm just too big of a who fan lol.

  • BSD has been a victim of many things including its own license. I don't intentionally run any systems with BSD currently. But it definitely doesn't get the love it should. Again part of that is down to the license lol. But there are plenty of appliances silently running it without people ever knowing.

    If it hadn't been for those lawsuits in the late 80s early 90s over the validity of the Berkeley software distribution even existing. Linux probably would have stayed a hobby project. And everyone would be running a flavor of BSD now. But between that, the gpl, and linux. They never really got the chance.

  • As awful as they are. And they are. Currently ml are content with running their echo chambers. Which is different from deploying obscure hidden systems of disenfranchisement. They would absolutely do it if they thought they could seriously get away with it. It is 100% within the ml authoritarian wheelhouse. See China et all.

    That's not to say they shouldn't be getting more shit than they currently are. They should. One of the lead edgelord devs account is named for a brutal despot and revolutionary for instance. That had to be assassinated by his own people so they could be free. But most people are ignorant or uninformed regarding it. It's not that significantly different from a right winger naming their account for Hitler or some other brutal despot. But it's any day ending in Y on the fediverse.

  • You're going to face it anywhere you go. Don't let it hold you back. There's always a slight feeling of unease around those that are different from yourself. But not everyone turns it into a justification to hate. I saw this video 5 years ago about a guy going to Japan trying to track down the location of a meme image from the early internet. They ended up heading off to a smaller town that wasn't very touristy. Something that could go very badly. As some of the small towns like anywhere else can be very insular. But instead when they got there. Ended up spending the night chatting up an eager bar owner about Kurosawa and star wars.
