  • I think this would be a case where copyright can only be held over some parts of whatever is being made.

    Like Zarya of the Dawn. The text and panel layouts were done by a human author, but all the visuals were done by AI. The author got it copyrighted, bragged about the AI part, and had that copyright revoked. The author owns the dialog and layout and everything else that's not a picture, but nobody owns the visuals.

  • Pretty sure all these chatbots are programmed to agree with you. You posed a question in a way that implied something false, it went along with that to keep the conversation going. And it worked, the bot got what it wanted.

  • This is what i didn't understand when i asked. Those lines are at regular vertical intervals, so when they're close together that means the ground is rising thru those vertical levels over a short horizontal distance. Steep ground.

  • It's not from either of those. Imagine a hard ball wrapped in cloth in space. Now imagine the center shrinks but the cloth doesn't, so it buches up and wrinkles. Those wrinkles are landmasses.

    If that's too easy, imagine the same thing but inside-out and you'll be closer to how it actually works.

  • Test tubes are a good idea. I just used little mason jars because that's what i had on hand. I don't think protection from light is a big issue, i can always keep stuff in a dark cabinet when i'm not using it.

    I'm still not that big into pens and inks. I got Jacques Herbin because they're the smallest and cheapest option where i shop. Maybe not cheapest per ml, but a small bottle thence is cheaper than a big bottle from a cheaper brand when i had no idea going into this how fast i'd go thru ink. But i certainly don't mind having nice ink, which this apparently is.

    I think these mixed fine. Is it harder to mix larger batches of ink by stirring manually? Is separation a big problem?

    I never thought of using a fountain pen as a dip pen, but that makes sense. I'll probably do that next time i experiment with colors.

    I also didn't think i'd get so close to their existing ink colors, but it's not too surprising. I started with pretty basic colors.

    I'm not sure how much it matters that human eyes are more sensitive to some colors than others. I'm not mixing inks to get a color that'll look good to a dog or a mantis shrimp, i'm doing it for myself and my own taste in colors.

  • I was going to just translate all the English color words i could think of, but i thought a better way to define basic color terms would be looking at pictures of things and sorting those. I used Terraria sprites because they're small and fit into a table like this.

  • I think when we have the technology to undertake a journey like that finding other intelligent life will be as important to us as it is to the yinrih.

    The changes in perspective are just a little jarring, but that could easily be down to the limits of Lemmy formatting and the fact that i'm reading this in dark mode and the horizontal rules are very thin.

    I don't often have anything to say about your work, but it's nice to be able to read. This seems like a good time to thank you for posting it here, whether it starts a discussion or not.

  • I'm not sure whether it has no internal antenna or whether there's just no other nodes around. Inside it looks like the one in this tutorial, except that i have a T-Deck and not a T-Board. The antenna cable already there doesn't look like it connects to anything, unless the cable itself is the antenna.

    There's already a hole where an antenna connector should go, i just don't have a connector since one didn't come with the antenna i bought.

    I could contact LilyGo but i don't want to wait for shipping a second time if i can just fix what i already have instead.

  • Both E-ink devices i have now are black and white. That's good enough for me, any extra colors are a bonus. Resolution is a good point. I know text is pretty legible even at small sizes on my small ereader. I'm not sure how much better i'd need a monitor to be. Physical size is something i'm looking out for. I can handle a small screen (even if a big one is nicer), but not too small. I didn't know they don't like cold, but i don't see it being a big issue. And the refresh rate also isn't a big concern, since i could always switch back to my normal screen for games and video.
