  • Still thinking about how I've been a vegetarian since I tried and failed to kill that cicada. Coming to the conclusion that a bug has a certain level of consciousness makes the idea of eating an animal horrify me.

    In good news, I had the greatest luck ever today. I am finally back on my anxiety/seizure adjunct med, this is the first time in weeks I've felt alright. I'm not dealing with the tardive dyskethesia or however it's spelt now, I'm actually hungry for the first time in a while, and I have hope I will get more than an hour of sleep.

    Also, my boss proved that he's cool af and sees the extra effort I put in. I normally go to that part of the city very early in the day in case they need me to come in early. But due to my insomnia from not having meds, I ended up falling asleep right when I was about to leave and being over an hour late for work. It's also not like this insomnia came out of nowhere, I've been dealing with it since not having my meds. He pretty much told me he understands that it's an accident and the pharmacy not answering my calls for weeks at a time is out of my control. It's cool to have an understanding boss

  • Maybe it's because I'm in Missouri and am not on social media but I've never seen any advertisement for Shatto. People over here love the weird flavors, between that and their unique glass bottle deposit system that every KC grocery store does creates a lot of word of mouth around here

  • I live in Kansas City, they're a high quality and interesting dairy company known for selling unique flavors of milk in glass bottles you bring back to the store to get your bottle deposit back.

    I've always loved their rootbeer milk since I was a kid

  • This is actually a really big reason I got into culinary. I'm autistic, and growing up I thought I hated vegetables. Turns out I do like vegetables, it's just that I don't like raw vegetables and nobody in my childhood knew how to cook vegetables.

  • I've thought about it, but it's very tricky because my anxiety med is a controlled substance called Lyrica. While everybody else in my family is ADHD, I am autistic and just have ADHD features. Lyrica calms down my brain enough that I can function correctly. Better executive function, way better memory because I'm not constantly dissociated from being overwhelmed by everything, offers pain relief for my arthritis and nerve pain. A few years back, I actually abused another drug in it's class a few years ago, mostly as self medication, and discontinued it incorrectly and got some brain damage from that. Lyrica helps me deal with the brain damage very well.

    But gotta love the DEA making it absolute hell to get my med. I can't just call my psych and ask for an emergency refill without being accused of abusing my meds or selling them. If I call and ask for an emergency refill, I risk my doctor taking it away forever and I really can't risk that. I can go without it for another week or two, as unpleasant as it'll be, but I can't get it taken away forever

    When I get my script again, I'm reducing my dose. Honestly I do better on 2 pills a day instead of 3, and it'll give me a lot more time to pick it up if I'm broke or if the pharmacy is fucking with me. Right now, I can't pick it up for both reasons, but in the future I'll be with a better pharmacy.
