Admin of lemy.lol and my new main

If you're looking for a listing of accounts used for my .ml crossposting campaign (or why I'm doing it) please see the bottom of this megathread. This account has been removed from the rotation

  • Most are fine, there are a few right wing instances that crop up but most instances defederated from them fairly quickly (unless you're on an "as long as it's not illegal" instance, which include dbzer0, Lemmy.zip and lemmy.sdf.org)

    The ones that are somewhat still federated but best to avoid are the ones known as the Tankie Triad, Hexbear Lemmygrad and Lemmy.ml.

    Hex and grad are fairly widely defederated from, including your instance, because of their tankie authoritarian ideology (Supports and defends authoritarian countries like Russia and NK (they'll spread propaganda like Ukraine deserved to be invaded by Russia and it's not even Russia invading but "liberation")). Lemmy.ml tends to not be, because they try to keep it more subtle, there's this mega thread that documents it. It's lemmy.ml centric, but general rule of thumb is that whatever Lemmy.ml does hex and grad are known to be worse.

    Most other instances are fine, .world...is just too big and that "power" has tended to go to their heads sometimes, though I will say not to the mass degree that Lemmy.ml does.

    Oh and startrek.website is pretty shit, but you could tell that from this post LMAO

    Second, you claim I spread disinformation, where? I document the actions and words of the admins and other tankies of .ml directly. I don't post things from RT, TASS or other actual propaganda/disinformation outlets as is so frequently coming out of .ml

    I use multiple accounts for the crossposting campaign more for secondary reasons other than the crossposting (see below).

    Further, each and every account used for that purpose has an explainer in the bio and a link to find a listing of accounts should anyone want to block en-mass

    1. Promoting smaller instances, because of the volume of my posting it helps makes smaller instances more recognizable
    2. Making comms on fitting smaller instances (e.g. a programming comm id make on programming.dev)
    3. Mitigating against the imposter problem
    4. Better interconnecting smaller instances

  • To be clear, you have been antagonising them and trying to wreck the instance. That has been an openly declared goal of yours. This was a predictable outcome, I don't think you're complaining about this.

    Nah, the ban came well before any of that, they widely site banned me early on when they originally temp site banned me because I naively had a good faith argument (like many new here I thought these tankies weren't as bad as I was told) then I got perm banned for merely calling them out and talking about them on the Threadiverse publicly (and not even anywhere on their instance). The documentation came later, which they definitely don't like, authoritarians don't like to be documented

    To anybody else, this user is a Tankie and hates me because of my anti-authoritarianism (e.g. tankies) stance, my documentation work against the tankie admins of Lemmy.ml and push back against their propaganda (e.g. Genocide denialism, Russia is the good guys in the Ukraine war actually, NK isn't a brutal dictatorship) and my boycott and cross posting campaign against them (see below)

    I cross-post from .ml to the nearest relevant non-.ml comm to reduce the influence of .ml comms and indirectly, the instance as a whole, to help vitilize non-.ml comms and make it an easier decision for other instance admins to defederate because one key reason I identified that admins don't want to defederate is because .ml still has some very large comms and some active niche comms.

    And so so much documentation on clear heavy handed censorship and bias also on the link. So much I can't even put them all here because this comment would be really long.

    I believe the behavior of its admins (the main admins are Lemmy devs) does harm to the overall growth of the Lemmy-verse and maybe even the Thrediverse (since Lemmy kinda kicked off the Thrediverse) because of its association with the devs of Lemmy and their insistence to use .ml as their personal political platform to spread harmful propaganda

    On the outside, bringing up Lemmy frequently leads to comments like "Lemmy? Isn't that the place with a bunch of tankies?" Or "Tried Lemmy, but found it full of pro Russia crap so I left". The best way forward from that I see is to either widely defederate from .ml like the rest of the Triad, or pressure them to put a fair and unbiased as possible admin team.

    I do not care for the fact that both right and left authoritarians (Tankies = left authoritarians) get "censored". Just as most agree that right-wingers and their toxic "ideology" should be shutdown, left authoritarianism should be as well because it is just as equally toxic. Known to call democracy "fake" and encourage people to not vote, spreading genocide denialism and even spreading literal Russian propaganda on Ukraine being "the aggressors" and not Russia

    I also find it funny that Tankies cry about being "censored" just like right-wingers do. And then turns around and censors dissenting discussions on China.

    In fact, there's a whole lot of censorship as documented here in the mega thread , but sure keep going on how the "only true communists" are being unjustly censored

  • Oh there's room for a frontend to have mod tooling, Lemmy's built-in moderation tools SUCK. They're really basic and development is SLOW. We're supposed to have better in v1, that'll come...any day now LMAO

    I often switch to Tess just for the mod tools when I need to do anything more than basic basic stuff lol
