  • Retch is still a word in modern English usage, but yes this is absolutely just an error and it's meant to be "wretched".

  • You could print it for sure, but you can also use it digitally in a virtual tabletop (VTT), which is probably even the more common use case.

A battlemap in a TTRPG is a visual aide for playing, typically but not necessarily during a battle (hence the name) or a conflict scene of some kind. This map could be used in any game, however you wouldn't be likely to use it in something like Cyberpunk or Delta Green due to the genre mismatch. The game itself is going to have its own rules for how to manage those scenes and the map itself is system-agnostic.

  • Do you play ttrpgs?

  • Why would a battlemap be specific to any system?

  • I haven't played the final release version, but played the intro scenario in the original beta release. I know there's been some changes since but not fully aware of the scope.

It seemed to work well for the style of game my group tends to play. I plan on buying it and trying a longer campaign once my current ones are done.

It may just not be your cup of tea, and that's okay.

  • Try reading The Martian by Andy Weir. Or Project Hail Mary by the same author. I think they would tickle the survival, tech, and space moods all at once.

  • They are very closely linked, though. You are not incorrect, but the vast majority of games shipped on disc can be played without servers, etc. Once they take those physical discs away, the only way to get them will be digital distribution, which is way more prone to being shut down than every disc in existence being destroyed.

  • GFWL wasn't vibe coded? Yikes.

  • "some newer games" is doing a massive disservice to the fact that it remains the vast majority. It is more honest to say some games aren't playable from disc, but most are.

  • The majority of games released on disc, even today, are playable by putting them into a console, installing, and playing. No internet, no downloads.

There may be debate about "full games" given day one patches and future content updates, etc, but it is a misconception bordering on misinformation campaign that games these days don't ship on disc.

They do. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, for example, has so much game shipped on disc that it came with two.

You can check out http://doesitplay.org/ to see what games do (the vast majority) and don't play from disc.

  • It's like 50% broken. I can still activate it but only from a specific angle and it's not as clicky.

  • Moving to another country is not really that easy.

  • What business is 50k starting?

  • Back when the news dropped that they were potentially dropping the replacement parts for LCD, the news was focused on the battery. However mine needs a new LB, so I had been looking at that. Those also increased in price around the same time, nearly 150%.

  • Small nitpick, but any company that produces a product is also going to sell that product, they just may not be selling it directly to consumers. Companies that are selling to other companies still have someone in charge of doing that. Otherwise they wouldn't make any money on the things they produce.

  • Kinda feels like a punk bassist being told not to use a pick makes them even more punk for doing so.

  • I played it on PC. Highly recommend.
