  • In this instance, Nath is wrong. He's been doing the heavy lifting for a long time, and I'm sure he knows it.

    To be honest, I don't have time to give AZ the attention it really needs. And at some point I'll have had enough bankrolling most of it, and want to move on not worrying about it.

    I'm not entirely sure how best to manage things when that day arrives. I'm open to ideas.

  • First some context... I don't want to be too prescriptive on what is or is not allowed on various communities here on AZ. I'd like them (communities) to find their own voice and audience, and self-determine what is acceptable... within the confines of the global AZ rules.

    Having said that... due to the nature of it, this specific community could probably do with some guard rails.... but more importantly, an active moderator to advance the development of the community itself. To that end I've made Gorgritch_Umie_Killa a moderator, will remove the two idle ones shortly.

    My advice.. moderation should remain as neutral and unbiased as possible. Allowable content from one political viewpoint, must be allowed from others. ie links to stickers from Getup being allowed means a similar link for HON promotional should also be allowed.

    As for AI generated content, personally I don't want to view/read it at all. Not sure exactly how to manage it across AZ, this will need further discussion and thought. I'd like to ban it outright, but that doesn't seem feasible. Some sort of mandatory tagging in thread titles perhaps...

    See Nath's comment about us not being the shapers of the community or its discussions. Users are free to reply or ignore as they see fit to other user posts/comments.

    As I previously posted, (twice now), that is not my interpretation of the comment on the article you posted. Only if you view the comment in a vaccum could you come to the conclusion you have. It seems you've either ignored my interpretation, or don't understand it.

    If I were jewish and posted in support of legislation put in place to protect fellow jews, and someone on the internet leapt to the conclusion I was a nazi because the legislation in question is right leaning... I'd probably do my best to ignore them too. Seagoon doesn't owe you an explanation for your misunderstanding.

    I took Seagoon_'s comment to be in support of the ban on particular phrases, by highlighting another dog whistle for nazis. Before this, I (like Nath) did not know this was a nazi dog whistle.

  • I fully believe that the user in question is a Nazi. There is no other rational explanation for their behaviour .

    There are other explanations, such the one from my comment you replied to. You may not agree with my interpretation, and Seagoon has not posted to clarify the thinking behind their comment. If it becomes clear that a user is a nazi, I'll take appropriate action, as I have done with previous users.

    Any space that allows that user is a Nazi bar.

  • In this case, with the understanding of your comment... there is no point for them to try and engage further, for the reasons others have noted.

    Giving you the benefit of the doubt, I think you chose a bad phrase to make your point and have not clarified this in subsequent comments.

    I don't believe Seagoon_ is a nazi. I do believe they're a zionist. In Australia as it stands... one is illegal, the other is practically government policy.

    To say anyone in support of the new legislation in QLD is a nazi, as you have implied, is an extreme take on the situation. I have many issues with the legislation as it has been passed, but do not believe supporters of it are automatically nazis.

    As Nath has commented, as a rule we let human to human discussions run their course... unless they're going off the rails. Simply posting something you do not believe, or you do not agree with is not grounds for a comment to be removed.

  • Thanks for the ping. Without getting into details, this is a security measure to block AI bots that were scraping aussie.zone and effectively DDoSing us.

    If there are specific apps/platforms that are incorrectly being caught in this, I can allow them on a case by case basis.

  • I've created /c/aussocialism , but consider it on probation. Political ideology communities can be a lightning rod for trolls and general drama. I don't want either here. If it becomes an issue I'll shut down the community and it can find a new home.

    The information you've previously compiled was either moderated already, or deleted by author when I saw most of if. What remained were ambiguous, possibly offensive comments if interpreted in particular ways . Either way... I didn't see anything warranting further action than had already occurred. That and your actions at the time, harassing said user in every thread they posted in, had me take your input with a large grain of salt.

    I've not seen any unaddressed reports for them that warrant action on my part. I'm not online 24x7 though, so often reports are addressed by other mods/admins before I see what was reported.

    Looking over comments from this user, I see plenty to dislike. But I won't ban a user because I dislike them, their opinions or necessarily how they express them.
